So to all those who know me well enough it should come as no surprise that when I was preparing to come to Chile I researched the ice cream they had to offer. To my lovely surprise I learned Chile had one of the top 25 ice cream parlors in the world, Emporio La Rosa. My first day in Chile my friends and I had ventured off the mall and found one of the shops and i knew I had to have it. When I found another shop about 2 blocks from where I lived I was ecstatic, but surprisingly enough didn’t have it as much as I’d even expect myself to have it.
The first time I had it I went with Vanilla, it is just a classical must. I returned about 2 or 3 times which was definitely not enough to satisfy all my ice cream cravings but I tried at least 5 flavors at every visit (the employees probably hated me). I had to have one of the flavors only available in Chile, Miel de Ulmo, but my absolute favorite was Maracuya.
In the midst of learning about Emporio La Rosa I also found out that 3 of the top ice cream parlors are located in NYC. I have made it a goal to visit them before the year is done, disappointed in myself for not even knowing about these places before.
