Some public transportation throughout Australia

In the Gold Coast most use Go Cards
In Sydney opal cards
& in Melbourne myki cards
Most of these cards can be refilled at train stations or in stores like 7eleven or EZMarts. The terminology for refilling a card is “top up”

There are areas which are still developing that can be noted even in public transportation. For example, in Cairns for the buses you pay based on how far you’re going (uni students get discounts). These buses have only one door because the driver charges you and prints out a receipt stating your destination.

Public transportation also runs much later in certain cities like Sydney and Melbourne than they do in the Gold Coast and Brisbane
