“Hola” – it is illegal to capture and keep parrots as pets in Costa Rica and Mario (Pili’s brother in law) let me know he doesn’t allow his workers to have them. However, one day he thought he heard a baby bird in one of their homes so when they went off to work he went to check and he was right, he found these two. They were far too young to make it on their own but had already been taken from their mother so couldn’t be placed back in her care; Mario and his family kept them up at his house and took care of them until they were old enough to be on their own. When he let them go free they camped on this tree and have never left the ranch since – it’s amazing the attachments animals can develop
