The people of Medellín work hard to steer away from the narrative created by Pablo Escobar’s drug cartel and the violence it brought to the city. Vivid – Sydney

Vivid is a unique annual free public exhibition that combines technology, artwork, music and ideas. This year the show was running from the 27th of May to the 18th of June from 6PM-11PM every night. During the celebration their are different locations throughout the city that are lit up in celebration with the main location being Circular Quay, where The Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge are located. I wish I would’ve had the opportunity to experience Vivid at every location but I did the most of what I could.

So on Saturday night after an exhausting trip to The Blue Mountains Lilly and I headed to Circular Quay. Once we arrived we started searching for food, there were a bunch of trucks with different foods, Lilly had a spicy burger and I went on to look for something else. I found a Belgian Waffle truck and thought it would be so delicious. Unfortunately, contrary to looks and the long line of anticipation, it was extremely bland and the only thing that saved it just a little bit was the scoop of ice cream I asked to be added (of course).

The different lights and art was beautiful. Each piece had a pillar near by with the number it was in the sequence and a description of the creator and what the piece was illustrating. Unfortunately, because I wanted to see as much of it as I could I didn’t get to read as many descriptions as I would’ve like to, this didn’t bum me out too much though, it allowed me to create my own interpretation.
